The Preschool Regulation
requires the hiring of certified preschool teachers
into vacate positions beginning Fall 2004 (704 KAR
3:410). The correct certification for preschool
teachers in Kentucky is the Interdisciplinary Early
Childhood Education (IECE) birth to primary certificate.
The IECE Certified Teacher
Registry will help alleviate teacher shortages by
matching certified teachers with preschool openings
throughout Kentucky. This registry will be available
to any teachers who hold the IECE certification
or statement of eligibility in Kentucky. The registry
is also available to teachers in Kentucky who hold
a letter of exemption from the Education Professional
Standards Board (issued to preschool teachers between
1997 and 2003).
The registry is listed according
to the number of applicants looking for employment
in a specific county/district. Administrators looking
for teachers, may contact the Simpson County RTC
for a list of registered teachers in their county/district.
Applicants can be added
to the IECE Certified Teacher Registry by filling
out an application and sending it to the Simpson
County Regional Training Center (RTC). The
application can be downloaded by clicking here.
