Professional Development
GRREC
helps provide quality learning for every child by training area educators.
Professional development has been the primary objective of the Cooperative
for more than 30 years. Annually, more than 3,000 teachers, administrators
and support staff participate in nearly 200 standards-based professional
development activities determined and defined by district needs.
Educational
Technology
Since
1994, the Cooperative has provided assistance in planning, design and
implementation of local district initiatives in technology. GRREC's Technology
Coordinator serves as a consultant and trainer to school districts on
opporuntites in cutting edge instructional technology, including the coordination
of the Kentucky Instructional Technology Academy annually. GRREC has on
staff and available for districts a Certified National Cadre Trainer for
the Marco Polo program, Certified Inspiration/Kidspiration Trainer, and
Microsoft Office Applications Training Lab.
Bidding
Service
GRREC
not only combines the buying power of 185 schools but as a member of the
Kentucky Purchasing Cooperative, we offer our districts over 50 bid contracts
that reach almost 1,000 schools statewide. By promoting helathy competition
among its 200-plus vendors, GRREC helps districts maximize every dollar.
Proactive
Voice
GRREC
is a proactive voice for education through the work of standing committees
and entire Board of Directors. Superintendents monitor educational issues
statewide and maintain regular contact with the Kentucky Department of
Education, state educational associations and state lawmakers. Through
vital networking, they are able to declare collective positions on crucial
issues.
Special
Education
With
the addition of the
Caveland Special Education Support Center, GRREC also
serves special education programs in 17 districts through training, consultation
and specialized services. To address growing demands, the Center has added
specialists in Assistive Technology, Occupational Therapy, and Reading
Strategies to the existing highly mobile team of consultants. Districts
receive support through consultation, technical assistance, professional
development, material, and equipment loan, and administrative support.
Leadership
GRREC's
Board of Directors is comprised of the 31 superintendents from our 30
member districts & superintendents, and the Dean of Western's College
of Education. The GRREC staff continually searches for new and better
ways for schools to collaborate, helping to serve the most important public
- your children.
