Digital Storytelling – GRREC will be offering a Digital Storytelling Workshop beginning July 11, 2007

KDE
Earlene Cool, announced, KET has agreed to purchased unitedstreaming for all Kentucky public schools for another school year (2007-2008).  This purchased was made with Title II Part D money.

The State-Wide TRT Meeting will be held, Wednesday, March 7, 2007 from 2:00 until 4:00 at the Convention Center prior to the KTLC Kick-Off Events.  Earlene encourages everyone to attend in order to hear a special keynote by Dr. Christopher Moersch, developer of the LoTi Project (Level of Teaching Innovation)   

KDE is changing the name from Technology Resource Teacher to Technology Integration Specialist. 

Barren County
Barren County reports 150 Smart Boards will be purchased over the next few weeks to be placed in Barren County High School, Barren County Middle School, Trojan Academy, and Red Cross Elementary. 

Barren County will be purchasing ear bugs for every student in Barren County Schools.  They will replace ear phones on all computers.  The ear bugs will be sold in the bookstore for students convenience should they loose the set supplied by the district. 

 

Barren County TRTs are currently trying out a new response system, iclick.  The system is proposed to be of a lesser cost than the competitors.      

 

Meade County
Meade County
is the process of purchasing sound systems for the entire school district.  Determining factors that resulted in this purchase were research supports that with the sound system installed in classrooms:  student engagement is increased, teacher absences decrease due to reduction in need to raise voice, and discipline infractions reduced.  Gary Grant, TRT Meade County Schools recommends the following article, Can You Hear Me Now?

The installation for the VBrick System - VBrick Systems, Inc. provides complete solutions that capture live real-time video, store it and then manage the delivery of the video over local area networks and the Internet. VBrick's award winning standards based solutions provide full screen, full motion, DVD quality viewing on network attached PCs, televisions, or PDAs is now complete in Meade County.  The cost is approximately $150,000 for the roll out through the entire Meade County School District.   

Hart County
Lisa Willian, the curriculum, instruction and technology specialist at Hart County High School, shares that Hart County is using the web based Accelerated Reader which is Renaisance Learning.  In addition to the A/R components, the web based version has a parent piece as well.  The web based version also requires only Shockwave/Flash plug-ins be installed on the machine, no software installation is required. 

Elaine Barrett is training teachers to use their Classroom Repose Systems and Exam View. 

Bowling Green Independent Schools
Nancy Brandenburg reported she and her principal, Jim Tinius visited Allen County to see the active classroom in action.  She said that they have started the process to install the voice enhancement classroom beginning with 1st Grade at Potter Gray Elementary School.

Cumberland County

Ginger Garmon has been busy with helping teachers with ILP (Individual Learning Plans), and Carnegie’s Cognitive Tutor for Math. 

 

LaRue County

Leicha  Howell, Abraham Lincoln Elementary in LaRue County reports they are in the process of building a new building which will be complete with electronic classrooms throughout the building in the fall of 2007.  The school chose to purchase Smart Ed solution for their school.  (Smart Board, Airliners, etc..)

 

Terri Eastridge, Hodgenville Elementary in LaRue County shared her school is working on reaching a goal of 5 computers in every classroom. 

 

Theresa Banks, LaRue County High School – reported she believes in the future her school will be pursuing a laptop initiative. 

 

Allen County

The high school just opened a new science addition to their building.  The classrooms are complete with active boards and projectors. 

 

Elizabethtown Independent

Marlane Youngblood reports that new machines are beginning to arrive in Elizabethtown.

Also, the sites used by EIS teacher Betty Clemons are below. Very briefly, Mrs. Clemons uses these 2 sites to plan "skills needed" and "skills practice".  The objective is for students to email an answer to a prompt after a lesson. She prints out the emails to serve as documentation and assessment.  We have these sites listed on our web page under Teacher Favorites. See...
